We FINALLY made our way over to the internet viral Easy Street Burger, which, even in a city of smash burgers, has made quite a name for itself. In fact, every time you ride by the block it’s wedged on, it looks like there must secretly be a nightclub inside or something like that. Luckily, we went for an early lunch around 12:30 PM on a Saturday and it only took us a couple of minutes to order. There’s very limited indoor and outdoor seating but luckily we were able to grab a table after putting in the order. Don’t count on there being seating during busy hours.
The menu is quite simple, perfect for a burger spot. Makes the decision Easy (Street Burger). Smash burgers of various sizes on potato buns, some additional toppings for extra $ and french fries with some toppings and seasoning options as well. They’ve got ample vegan/vegetarian options as well for those interested. I’d compare it to an In & Out type of menu with a little touch of new-age pizzazz.
Despite the really easy walk up and order experience, it took about 25 or so minutes to get the food. It wasn’t terribly surprising given the smaller size of the kitchen that you can see upon walking in. Just know that you can expect to wait longer than you’d like, even if the line is short. Not ideal, but it comes with the viral territory.
Then, in the chaos of it all, our food arrived. I got a double smash burger with wild fries (essentially Animal Style). As the smash burger descriptor entails, the two patties on the burger were razor thin and packed with salty, peppery flavor. Burgers also come with cheese, pickles and wild sauce, their version of Thousand Islands. It was a highly enjoyable experience that passed by all too quickly. I easily could’ve taken down two of those double burgers. The Wild fries were almost indistinguishable from Animal Style fries from In & Out…needless to say, I was a big fan.
This review is complicated, because the food is delicious and it’s kind of a hectic dining experience with a lengthy wait. All in all, I’d say Easy Street Burger is an awesome place to go if the following are true:
1. You’re not terribly hungry in the immediate
2. You have the option to take a short drive home in the event there aren’t any seats available / are comfortable sitting on the sidewalk
If very hungry or would like a nice, quiet table to eat at, I’d skip this place outside of uncommon lunch hours on weekdays. Hopefully the longer it operates the more accessible it’ll be, but for now, it remains a destination.
